Justin Sinclair is a pharmacognosist and Research Fellow at the National Institute of Complementary Medicine housed as Western Sydney University. For the last 10 years he has been researching and studying medicinal Cannabis across several scientific disciplines including botany, phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology and its clinical application in human disease.

He has travelled extensively throughout the USA and Canada and spent several years learning from licenced physicians, cultivators and patients in jurisdictions where it is legal and has published on the topics of pain management, herb/drug interactions and the endocannabinoid system.

Justin heads up the Scientific Advisory Board for United in Compassion since 2015 and has spent much of the last 2 years educating medical professionals and lobbying state and federal politicians campaigning for safe, quality assured Cannabis for patients that require it.

His research interests include Cannabis phytochemical optimisation for specific disease states and the concept of phytochemical synergy within the Cannabis genus, known as the Entourage effect.

His talk today, will introduce a little Cannabis history of use, present recent evidence focusing on the many concerns around Cannabis use medically and then focus on introducing the Endocannabinoid system, an entire neuromodulatory system that we would know nothing about if it was not for research into the Cannabis genus.
