Emeritus Professor of Anaesthesia, The University of Sydney.

Laurie’s Full-time academic career was in adopted disciplines of anaesthesia and pain medicine at the Universities of Sydney, Washington, Massachusetts, Sheffield, and Flinders University.

Although officially retired his interest in cannabis started in the early 1970s as the first person in Australia to measure its chemical constituents; his interest regenerated in 2000 when he was a participant in NSW Working Party tasked with evaluating the evidence for its medicinal use.
